Summary
Tommy remembers a time where he idolized the heroes on the screens. He remembers a time where his breath would fog up the glass on Christmas morning as he stared at a window with toys. Heroes monetized. Tommy hadn't thought much about it when he was little, when he had stars in his eyes with the hope that he'd crawl his way out of the slums.
It would've been better if Tommy had never existed in the first place.
Freefall was dead.
He should stop falling back on those habits.
--
"Hello, welcome to Niki's. How can I help you?" Tommy greeted with a faux cheeriness that he knew was a remnant to Freefall. It wasn't like Nightstalker with his standoffish extreme tendencies. However, it would ensure that the public would never realize that Freefall was alive.
Freefall was dead.

Summary
"Wil!" a familiar goofy voice called out to him, and Wilbur couldn't even stop his mouth from turning upwards into a smile.
Tommy.
Wilbur immediately broke into a grin and exclaimed, "Why, if it isn't my favorite gremlin child?" He did try, in all fairness, to ignore the purple bruise on the boy's face. He had asked about it before, but Tommy kept refusing to tell the older man where he got the injuries. Sometimes, the boy would make up a bullshit excuse which Wilbur could easily tell was a lie, but the truth being kept from him for so long was beginning to weigh on his psyche.
"I'm not a gremlin or a child, you bitch," Tommy grumbled, though the red on the kid's cheeks told Wilbur an entirely different story. Wilbur almost cooed at the sight.

Summary
Sapnap could never understand why they were scared of blood. It tasted like iron, and it was warm before it dried. It wasn't anything remotely terrifying. The feeling of fire burning their skin wasn't terrifying in the slightest. Sapnap didn't understand why the newcomers winced. He didn't understand why they were expressing the pain they felt on their faces. Didn't they know it would only end in more pain?

The woman stood at the front, leaning on a cane as she surveyed each child. They were all dressed in all gray clothes, each pair the exact same, non-blinking as they paid attention to the new trainer that they would have to please, in order to survive another day. "Welcome, graduates, to school," she said, surveying the kids who either were confused or recognizing what it was. "Today, we'll be erasing the looks on your faces. Emotions are a weakness. Never forget it."
Sapnap never would.

Summary
Tommy grew up underneath the sun. It was a warm embrace. The warmth always left him craving for more.
The sun had never grown too close to him. The sunlight touched his skin; the sunlight burned his skin, yet the fire never touched him nor turned his skin into ash. He could never dare to look it in the eyes, for if he did – he would be blinded. He worshiped and revered it, because without it, there would be no crop and no life.

Summary
It was his ignorance that saved him in the end.
Fire rained from the skies, the fabric of their — his — reality ripped apart, and the dark smoke shrouded the lands without a single chance of being expelled. Humans became less than human, single-mindedly reaching for another person to infect the unfortunate passerby with the curse of the undead.
Tommy didn't know. He hadn't even looked outside when everything changed. His parents were at work, and he was home sick, and just like that armageddon had come.

Summary
Sirius stopped confiding in Regulus, Regulus stopped trying to talk to him. The last time they had spoken was their first dinner back from Hogwarts for the summer, and their only exchange had been pleasantries — as if they hadn't both experienced the horrors of the house… as if neither of them shared blood.
(But Regulus would never be able to forget the whispers of protection, of Sirius standing up to Mother whenever she frightened Regulus. He would never forget the insults spat at their mother, if only to redirect the fury onto himself instead of Regulus. He would never forget the silent tears he cried at night, feeling helpless to protect his brother. He would never forget when they played games when it was still deemed acceptable for them to be children. He wouldn't forget, and perhaps that was the cruellest of it all — that he remembered the good times, because now the bad only felt so much worse.)
He wished he could cast anything to muffle the screams from downstairs.

Summary
Tommy's premonitions weren't doing him any favors right now. Who cared if he could see completely random flashes of futures at random points in time if he was being hunted down in the woods like a fucking deer or some shit? He was being hunted down, and his fuckin' dreams weren't being helpful when he was being chased down by a dozen unknown assailants.
Genuinely, truly, he wished that he was born with some other fucking power. He'd even take necromancy! It may be extremely taboo and whatever, but fuck being hated by the entire magical community, at least he'd be able to raise some squirrel's bones from the dead and sic them on the enemy. He didn't know what they were associated with, but Tommy had a pretty good idea from the fact that an arrowhead nearly nicked his arm was enough to say that yes, this was the enemy.
