Description:

before you type, this is posted this on ao3 and not on tumblr, don't treat it as social media (like using my other works to comment on) and
if you want to argue for Tobirama and anything I say on principle, I'll delete your comment. Do not change arguments to try to make Tobirama incapable of being reproached.

this is NOT a meta series to supplement for lack of knowledge about canon. This is a critical series where I do not shy away from talking about Tobirama and canon

The critical series of meta where Tobirama is not sugarcoated and glossed over. Who is Tobirama? (his unflattering sides?) How does his controversy affect other characters? How does his ships factor into this? Why does his criticism turn into questions if he should be liked when that isn't the point? Why is he rejected as wrong but not *that* wrong and be in the right? Does his words match his actions?

All of these metas are connected and work off of each other. The companion fanfics are different.

People who get their comment threads deleted 2-3 times (for not reading series description and fall under why they get deleted) are blocked.

Notes:

How the perspective is "like"

pro Uchiha, anti/critical Tobirama (fandom), pro Tobirama ruined it for the Uchiha, anti Curse of Hatred, pro Naruto Is About Overcoming Hatred, pro Hashirama, pro criticism, anti -> ship purity/morality (these are fictional characters)

comments I'll delete:
people who don't read what the meta is about and argue. you should present what chapters you're talking about and if you wish to, read my other metas for panels and ask for chapters if you want clarification
flaming, "what about (hashirama, hiruzen, danzo, etc)", "what if?" and no explanation, "it can't be true!" and other flimsy declarations, or arguing for argument's sake. Irrelevant points brought up to distract and minimize the original points made or to invalidate arguments without bringing up evidence. No "I don't think it's true, it must not be true."

I'll delete "I've never experienced it! You're lying!!" and other proclamations. Experiences are not universal.

Comments that don't address any points made, comments that keeps going off topic, or comments going around the argument. Continuing a frozen comment thread.

Guests with throwaway or suspicious names are unfortunately deleted when spotted without being read. Most of them are rants or flames because it's easier to be rude hiding under an "anonymous" name.

Misogynism, sexism, racism, and other forms of bigotry will be deleted and not tolerated.

What do I mean by purity culture? There are pros and antis in most fandoms and I have specific focuses. I have seen ships get ragged on for being toxic (HashiMada) in MadaTobi/Tobirama fandom and what I want to talk about is how people blur the lines of reality and fiction and believe a character reflects on your moral character or a character needs to reflect a good moral character to be acceptable to consume.
The refusal to accept 'problematic content' and wipe it out for a sanitized version? Intense, personal arguments center around protecting a character's integrity and argue about morals?
Discarding characters after overblowing the characters' toxicity and turning a character massively problematic to bash on them? This? Measured by a fanon saint character as the untouchable purity and have everything else be "dirty"?
The self-righteousness in fandom and shippers? The refusal for a character to be problematic because their moral purity surpasses all?
The bashing of a problematic character when having another problematic character as a favorite?
Calling other ships problematic? Calling other shippers out and implying a shipper's moral character based on ship tastes? Arguing with other character fans for having problematic ships?
The black/white morality and intense need for white morality and clean and pure PR in fandom and attacking those who don't agree with them?
Use of trauma and identity politics to say what is problematic or not problematic and what can't be shipped to make it harder for anyone else to argue because it'll look like an attack on their personal self?
Without getting into politics, purity culture has a lot of shaming and overblowing fears (think about, "be careful of stranger danger" morphed into "you're a predator/too close to 'kids'" accusations online) and needing to alleviate these fears by being defensive.
