Summary
Bdubs forces himself to refocus on the hopper interface and not on the worms he might've or might not have drank last night. The item filters looks as normal as normal could be.
Three slots of single pieces of dirt. Check. One slot with nineteen pieces of dirt. Check. One spare slot. Check-
His brows furrow. "Hey, Etho?"
"Yep?"
"’S this one supposed to look like this?"
Bdubs just wants to learn how to make an automatic brewing station for his new potion shop. Unfortunately, the "Redstone Genius" meant to be helping can't even get his own system to work.

Summary
He could walk three paces to his left and find a spare set of clothes hung in the shallow alcove of his closet.
Three steps, when just yesterday he would have needed to ask Scott for a shirt to borrow and company to entertain so he could scrub his clothes in the lake behind the Cabin.
The contrast is funny. Almost. It has the potential to be, if Etho could work his tongue around a joke over the joys of a materialistic life.
Etho awakes on Hermitcraft unprepared for the whiplash that comes after losing his last life in Past Life.

Summary
Bdubs forces his hand onto the hilt of his shovel, certain that otherwise he'll push the other from the railing. He tries to focus on how the wood feels smooth against his hand, reciting that he only needs to keep this up a little longer.
Rough presses against smooth. Frustration fights against satisfaction.
"I can't believe I'm hearing this from a guy who eats frogs-"
And it goes like this.
One moment, Bdubs is alone. The next, Etho is at his side.
Bdubs is tired of BigB claiming that he ate a frog. Etho helps solve that problem.

Summary
"Etho-" he steps down from the stool, tossing the comb onto the table. "You don't have to do this. You can- I mean I'll go get Scott and tell him to forget about the whole 'team outfit' thing-"
"Woah, woah," Etho straightens and Bdubs blinks to find Etho's hand suddenly outstretched and contorted, as though he'd gone to grab Bdubs' arm before thinking better of it. "Who said anything about backing out?"
"You didn't have to. You're practically jumping out of your freaking skin and the first team meeting isn't for another hour."
When Bdubs came to MCC to help Etho with his outfit and makeup, he didn't expect to find Etho so offput about the whole thing. Luckily for Etho, Bdubs is the world's #3 Problem Fixer and #1 Etho Handler

Summary
...maybe he can call this an Etho expression. One that only comes after determination has set Bdubs' jaw tight and he's proclaimed that he would join Etho's night under the stars and not fall asleep this time.
Etho had grinned like an idiot when he heard that last part. Bdubs, who works best when the sun's warm rays are cast over his tan skin. Bdubs, whose eyes slip shut and breath turns steady by the time the moon is halfway up the sky.
Bdubs, whose head now rests on Etho's shoulder and whose mouth opens wide around his next snore.
Two out of three isn't so bad. Etho thinks so anyway.
Etho has always enjoyed sitting beneath the stars. After all, there's no better place to get lost in his thoughts, especially when his favorite company is fast asleep against his shoulder.

Summary
Only, it isn't anger that Etho's trying to sweep beneath the rug, is it?
No, beyond how picturesque Etho looks with his hands slipped deep into his pockets and chin lilted toward the sky as he invades Bdubs' space without an apology, Bdubs can see the thin strings that keep Etho's limbs from looking as tense as he sounds.
Bdubs has half a mind to cut them himself.
But he'll play nice.
Bdubs shows up to King of the Ladder and really leans into the fact that Etho isn't a ray of sunshine about it.

Summary
"I don't know why Lord Third bothered puttin' us on a team with him." Bdubs can't even bring himself to say Joel's name, face scrunching like he'd just tried Etho's latest attempt at cooking. He doesn't wanna risk it. Not when a part of him wholeheartedly believes Joel would appear at the first mention of his name.
…or maybe that's the devil. Either way Bdubs isn't taking the chance.
"I can't work with a freaking horse killer. That's cruel!"
"It's kinda ironic."
Joel has got to be the worst genin- no, the worst shinobi in all of history. At least, Bdubs think so. He just needs to convince Etho of that too.
OR
A piece of a Naruto AU where Team Short Grass is a new genin team consisting of Etho, Bdubs, and Joel. And of course there's some Team Minato parallels.

Summary
"You ever think you're from another dimension?"
Distantly the familiar sound of Bdubs fussing with his kitchen barrels stops, and in the corner of Etho's eye Bdubs turns to look at him with a lopsided smile.
"What kinda question s'that?"
He sounds fond. So terrifyingly fond that Etho isn't sure what to do with it. A piece of him wants to wrap Bdubs' tone around his mind like a torniquet, twist it tighter and tighter until it numbs that weird part of his brain that feels heavy with doubt.
Instead Etho stares into his mug. Squints just to see his faint reflection do the same.
"A serious one."
If there's one conspiracy Etho will subscribe to, it's that Bdubs is from another dimension. He's never met anyone that could rival Bdubs' personality nor his compassion- it's practically otherworldly.
...and maybe, just maybe, a part of him thinks that if Bdubs really is some crazy person from another dimension, that warmth Etho feels when he's with Bdubs might actually be love.

Summary
"Oh Bdubs," Etho mumbles through his fingers. Bdubs thinks he's never heard words sound so soft yet weighted, trapped in an oxymoron that still sounds like heaven if only because it was Etho who'd said them. "What are we doing?"
There's a strange sense of tranquility that blankets over Bdubs as he too pushes forward to lean into the railing, crossing his arms and resting them on the spruce fence gates. The night persists beyond them, cool with a breeze that would mark it perfect for hot drinks and the stoking of a fire.
Just say the word, Bdubs thinks to himself. I'll spend all night collecting logs and sticks, just tell me what to do.
But Etho never speaks, and Bdubs suppresses a shiver against the next gust of wind."What we always do."
Everyone expects the arguments—the sharp words and need for space. The inevitable return that begins with soft footsteps and uncertain glances. But no one ever seems to mention that forgiveness doesn't always begin with an apology.
Sometimes it looks like dinner on the stove and a table set for two.

Summary
And they'll probably chat each other's ears off beforehand, right? Etho has never been the type to throw himself into the deep-end, especially not in matters regarding his privacy. He'll test the waters, dip his toes in and ask Bdubs about his day.
Heck, Etho might not turn his camera on at all, just because he knows Bdubs won't make a fuss over it.
Discord's ringtone suddenly quiets. Oh, he should probably answer that.
Etho finally does a face reveal for Bdubs, and-
Huh. He's a lot bluer than Bdubs imagined.
OR
Etho's Hytale character looks a little more like Etho than Bdubs expected.

Summary
But Etho hadn’t blinked that cloudy Saturday morning, when Bdubs handed him a packet of papers thick enough to rival the books on their coffee table. He’d continued to sip at his coffee as he read over the words “Record of Divorce” like it was the day’s headline and asked for the pen in Bdubs’ other hand.
To Bdubs, that was it.
Bdubs thinks he's prepared for the moment Etho and his lawyer walk into the attorney's office to discuss their divorce proceedings. As it turns out, it hurts more than he expected it to.
