“Human mating require much touching,” Rocky said.
“Huh?” Grace looked up. He’d been zoning out, as he usually did during the sex scenes of the human movies they watched together, and he blinked several times at the actors still on the screen. Their arms wrapped around each other and a thin sheet was thrown over them to keep their incessant humping from becoming actual pornography.
“Oh. Yeah. That’s kind of par for the course.”
(Grace and Rocky watch a movie with a gratuitous sex scene, and talk about the differences between human and Eridian sex. Rocky spends the next week paying special attention to Grace. Tapping, listening, watching.)

Court lay in bed for a while after waking up. The sun reached through the thin curtains and slanted over the foot of the bed. There was an edge of chill in the converted garage, autumn biting through the thin walls. Court was glad for the blankets, piled three high.
Would be nicer if there was still a warm body beside him, but Lars was bad at laying in.

This was not his bedroom. Grace sat up, heart racing. Flickers of memories returned to him. Of course this wasn’t his bedroom, his apartment had been set ablaze, and not by accident. Someone was trying to kill him. They nearly succeeded, too.
Grace touched his face, and the wounds smarted under their bandages.

(Dr. Ryland Grace makes a lot of people very angry with his new study proving replicants are biologically human. K shelters him and helps him restore his sabotaged research. The two conduct a very small-scale study on what it means to be human together.)
