HALF-LIGHT: Fuck that. Our cloud wasn't pink.
ELECTROCHEMISTRY: No, baby. It was the color of cigarette smoke, chestnut-scented, on the Whirling-in-Rags balcony.

Summary
After the disaster/miracle that was the Hanged Man case, a badly injured Harry du Bois is kicked out of his apartment. His temporary partner Kim Kitsuragi very kindly offers to take him into his own home until he gets back on his feet, all too eager to keep an eye on a man who both fascinates and somewhat repulses him, a man who he might have become a bit too attached to over the course of a week.
It turns out that keeping a mentally unstable addict who receives visions of the apocalypse safe and occupied as revolution brews in their city is much more harrowing than Kim ever could have expected.

Summary
Most people are elastic. With little push and pull they stretch. They do as they're willed then bounce back. This flexibility grants them second chances. Like letting yourself fall when you slip down a mountainside: if you don't resist you won't be hurt as badly.
You are rubber. Firm and strong. You know exactly who you are. You insulate. You do not bend to the whims of others. You are rigid. One day you will break.
He is other. Something else. He is something that cannot be defined in simple, man-made, terms. He is esoteric and fluid. He is both the insects you feel in the hairs on your legs, after bad night terrors, and the arms holding you as your shaking stops. He will be what breaks you.
Let it be in a way that renders you flexible.

But of course, it's never that simple. Harry still has a few more revelations to face before he can finally rest.
And then he has to have more the day after that, and the day after that, and the day after that.

Maurice makes a point not to notice when kids stop showing up at the library, because he can't do anything about it. When Cee comes back after a while, she's being followed around by a strange man in an orange jacket. This does not sit right with the librarian, who sets out to find out what he's up to (and possibly kick him out) thankfully for all involved, that's actually the girl's guardian.

Maurice tries to avoid being a "judging a book by its cover" type. Except when it comes to cops. For those he holds a righteous apprehension. So when the officer he had on the phone in march starts to show up regularly at the library, the librarian proves wary.
But he's not much of a cop, is he?
