Warning - SPOILERS FOR THE "Searcher in the Shadows" AHEAD. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
Author Notes - After listening to the searcher in the Shadows and crying my eyes out and realizing I had no idea when the next part of the story will come out or if a certain character would be making a comeback. I decided to create a semi prequel of sorts. I have many theories about how he could potentially return. However, I came up with a rather far fetched idea, trying my best to follow rules we already know about these characters. Any errors or discrepancy to the original work are entirely my own.
Summary - The Purple button is pressed. Leading to the heartbreaking death of one of our beloved characters. However what if that wasn't the end. Now that character finds themselves trapped on the blazing world where they have no way to get back home except to wait it out knowing the collapse of this world is inevitable.

The ship they had fled in burns, unable to be saved, yet he walks through it unharmed. Step after step, each making the flames in her chest burn brighter, faster, hotter. This is not the first time this cruelty has been inflicted upon her, yet Ahlaam feels that familiar grief and fury rise all the same.
Once she gets a look, she cannot unsee.
Ahlaam knows without a shadow of doubt this is not the man she loved with all her heart. It is a convincing facade--he has managed to get the kindness in Taavi's eyes almost completely down, reaching out with that characteristic gentleness. But Ahlaam had trained with him many a day in the long-dead past. She is not yet tired enough to completely miss those familiar tells. She may be exhausted, spent, her near-lack of magic leaving an ache in her chest - but there is just enough for her to see through this lie. She sees a half-smirk that flits across his face, or the way the fire catches on an nearly-hidden gleam in his eyes.
Even if Taavi was not long dead...her husband would never look at her like that.
"Kal," she snarls.
OR
A world where Ahlaam wasn’t quite so drained of magic.
