"Say hi to Bobby for me," the man snarled as he lunged at Jack. He didn't have a second to react before the man was pulling him close and a knife was plunged into his stomach. Jack's mouth fell open in a silent shout and his hands immediately grabbed at the man's arm that was holding the hilt of the knife tight against his skin. The man laughed and twisted the knife before ripping it from Jack's stomach and scurrying off.

"Fuck, it's okay, Jack. Come here." Bobby dragged Jack by his shirt into a more secure area and tried to ignore the way he yelled as his wounds were irritated. His fingers were latched around Bobby's so tightly that his knuckles were white even behind the smeared blood that coated his hands.
"Bobby," he cried, tears and snot and spit dripping down his face as bullets continued to break through the walls, windows, and doors of the house. Angel was shooting back, but there were at least three guys still out there even with the two Bobby and Angel put down. "Bobby."
"Hold on, Jack. Just hold on for me." He dragged Jack over to Sofi who was crouched in the dining room, her hair coated with a thin layer of dust from all the debris. "Watch him, Sofi." She nodded frantically and immediately placed trembling hands over Jack's shoulder wound. Bobby gave Jack one last pat on the cheek before diving under the window and finally using his own gun to take down one guy moments after Angel took down another.

To say that Jack was acting weird was an understatement. Angel and sofi notice this straight away, the way he looked behind him all the time whenever he got stuck hanging out with the two love birds, or the way he always uses the phone booth outside the corner shop to make calls instead of at home, Evelyn was undeniably worried.
Which is why when Bobby visits home for a few weeks, he's going to break jack- get him to tell him and Jerry just what on hell has got him so fucking scared- so secretive of where he goes, and when he and his brothers find the asshole they'll teach him a lesson.

Jack spreads his arms so wide he thinks he could hug heaven, if only he had the chance. Maybe mom can feel it. He closes his eyes, going to that quiet place in his mind where it feels like he's barely in his own body. His awareness narrows to nothing but the rain-water as it hits him, and the howl of the wind in his ears.
Jack remembers the last time he was this cold, bleeding out into the street three houses down from his childhood home.
Sometimes, ten minutes with Jack can scare you into thinking you've just watched a lifetime pass you by.

It was July in Detroit, the weather was nice and sunny, Jerry's girls were out of school for the summer holidays, so everyone came down to Evelyn's to see each other. Jack comes back from New York and brings his girlfriend with, Curly, who ends up bonding (kind of) with Bobby after he goes out with her to buy ice-cream, in fear of leaving her alone to get mugged.
Curly is an OC, but also could be read as x poc reader with curly hair. There's no descriptions of physical appearance except her hair being curly so far.

Natalie is nice, sweet, and wonderful to be around. Everyone at home likes her, even Jack. With Bobby giving him new attention, Jack finds himself stuck between a rock and a hard place, especially because Natalie is so respectful.
Despite everything, neither men seem to be able to shake off what the bruises on Jack's thighs mean.
