    He walked toward her, closing the distance between them. Penelope didn’t take a step back. Even if she had been afraid, she wouldn’t do that; to take a step back was to admit you were prey. Penelope had not carved herself open and hollowed herself out in Tartarus to be afraid now.

    “If it was such an issue, she could have prayed to me.” Apollo told her quietly.

    He was pretty; Penelope would have to be blind not to see it. (Tan skin was something Penelope had always found to be an attractive trait, the muscles of his arms drew attention, and his hair was blonde - he had gone for natural blonde instead of choosing primarily blonde with brown roots - and curly.) But it wasn’t attraction as much as awareness of the beauty.

    Penelope tilted her head. “And what would you have done?” She didn’t give him a chance to answer. “Wiped her parents’ mind of the desire to see their daughter date a man before eventually settling down?”

    Every part of this this body was clinging. If Apollo was mortal perhaps he would make a comment about wearing a shoe that was too small in size. Apollo wasn’t mortal - not even half mortal like Percy - though and that was the issue. Being confined in this body was much more than a shoe that was ill fitting.

    Apollo was immortal. He had been both without form and had any form of his choosing. His father shoving him into a mortal’s body wasn’t like wearing a shoe that squeezed the toes. It was being stuck in a piece of meat that you well aware that could become rotting thing due to numerous circumstances, it was having a heart that’s beat he could hear whenever he got-

    “You’ve got that look,” Percy told him. His voice was rough.

    “What look?” Apollo asked as he lifted his chin to look up at the demi-god. While Apollo struggled to recall his past - a mortal’s body holding thousands of years of memories was like trying to hold water with a wide, open hand which was to say it an useless endeavor that was most frustrating - he did know Percy’s eyes looked as though they had been plucked out of the sockets of an appearance Poseidon had favored in modern times.

    “Like I’m dead.”

    This wasn’t what he pictured though. He was never one to watch the news or even keep up with it. He got all his news from twitter (he’s aware that isn’t great, ok). So it was a big shock when he logged onto twitter Sunday night to find Percy’s face plastered all over his feed along with trending tags like #greekgods, #hellenism, #zeus, etc.

    So, apparently the Greek gods were real, and Percy was a demigod. Sebastian was less surprised by the second part than he was the first. Percy certainly seemed pretty godly to him.
