It was so exhausting, working to get a grip on the old weaves from the Age of Legends. Rand sprawled among his cushions.
“Do you not get tired, Natael, of bowing and scraping?” he asked. “There’s no one around to see it.”
“Then why bother to call me Natael?” Asmodean asked. “And I mean every word of what I say, my Lord Dragon. Rand, if you prefer.”
He knelt down on the cushions next to Rand, cocking his head and giving him a curious stare.
“Do you prefer ‘Rand’?” he asked. “From me, I mean.”

Rand al'Thor has sent out a public amnesty for men who can channel while, in private, he and his trusted companions must decide where to focus their attention, as rumors swirl about dangers in Andor and Illian.
What if this were a battle? Thom had asked, after they'd laid the situation out before him, the true extent of what they were facing against the Forsaken. Cairhien is abuzz with your victories. So, General Cauthon, what advice would you give a man in Rand's position?
And Mat wasn't a general, far from it, but too many of them lived in his head now, in bits and pieces of memories. So he knew that a confrontation could come in many forms. Given the dangers facing them — best to go for distraction and a feint, and then a knife in the ribs, literal or metaphorical. That was Mat's advice.
Find a way to whittle down the number of enemies we need to face.
