Viktória királynő uralkodásának és az Ipari Forradalomnak a korában járunk. A történet középpontjában Adaline Lanchester áll, aki egy brit nemesi család egyetlen gyermeke. We are in the era of Queen Victoria’s reign and the Industrial Revolution. The protagonist of the story is Adaline Lanchester, the only child of a British noble family. Adaline is different from the young ladies around her. Since her childhood, she finds joy in playing the piano and reading the yellowed pages of the books, but her gray days change forever when she meets a mysterious man called Jacob Frye at a ball organized in honor of the queen. By the passing of time, their romance is blossoming more and more, but Adaline makes enemies as well. Soon, the man she fell in love with reveals his true identity to Adaline and he does not hide anymore the fact that he is fighting for the freedom of London. Furthermore, Jacob tells the woman that the blood of crooks sticks to his hands, he tells about the Assassin Brotherhood and the Templar Order that threatens the city. However, that's not all, because soon it turns out that Adaline is not the fragile woman that so many people think she is. What’s more, the blood in her veins is a heritage of the past and the threads of this heritage are traced all the way back to the Renaissance Italy...

“Jacob said to come get you,” Dickens says. “He’s in jail, you see.”
Oh. Jacob. She frowns, and says, “I thought his father would take care of something like that for him?”
“If his father knew, yes,” says Dickens. “But he was quite adamant that I keep Mr. Starrick out of the matter, and requested you, specifically, to come bail him out.”
Evie sighs. She can see the logic behind this, is the thing—Jacob doesn’t like his father to know that he’s been running around London as a laborer, and if he’d been caught in that shabby coat of his he’d be keen on keeping his father away from the whole matter. Still… “How did he even get caught in the first place?” she asks. “He’s usually more careful than this.”
or: Jacob gets hypnotized and lands in jail. Evie fixes things, knocks out some Blighters in the process, and refuses to acknowledge her emotions. Dickens is just here to drink on either the Starrick or Frye dime.

Summary
A rookie Jacob and Evie Frye sit on a roof and talk about their new roles as Assassins. That was until Jacob had a very good, very reasonable, very fun idea that would lead to nothing going wrong at all. He has been studying. Even though Evie just doesn't believe him. Nevertheless, Jacob finds out about previous Assassins and how they leap from buildings, and walk away just fine.
Evie is naturally sceptical about it, but places a bet with him anyway.
Besides, there was no way Jacob would be stupid enough to even try to leap from a building into a haystack. No way.

However his night turns into nothing but chaos as the stranger he's become acquainted with the young Earl, Vincent Phantomhive, who's looking to take down Starrick himself, causes him troubles as the two have caught the attention of The Blighters. It's a merry chase through London, as the worlds of Assassin's Creed and Black Butler collide.
