Summary
Harry Potter killed Voldemort during the Tri-Wizarding contest in Year Four but was left traumatised and with Complex PTSD. He now attempts to navigate everyday life as a regular student.
During his second year at Hogwarts, Harry accidentally freed the Basilisk from the spell it was under, revealing it was actually a boy transformed into the creature. The boy, Beau, disappeared with the promise to return.
It’s the beginning of his seventh year at Hogwarts and the Basilisk has suddenly returned as a transfer student. Harry has to navigate studying for the N.E.W.T.s, his trauma responses, and newfound and old feelings between Beau and Draco.

This is an essay in which I'm trying to make sense of events in 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets'.
What did Lucius know about the diary and why did he plant it on Ginny? What exactly happened in Hogwarts in 1943? Why did nobody ever suspect a basilisk behind the attacks? Why did nobody ask Myrtle how she died? Who else was harmed, and how? What was the purpose of the Chamber? Who hid the entrance behind a sink? Why did he think a pipe-slide was a good way to enter the Chamber? How did the basilisk manage to get around in pipes? Why did nobody ever see a big snake roaming the hallways? How did Ginny manage to set the basilisk on her fellow students? Why wasn't she killed by the basilisk's gaze?
I believe I found reasonable answers to all of these questions, but I welcome counter-arguments and discussions! (In truth, I'm fully expecting zero readers for this, but I'd be happy to be proven wrong :) )

The basilisk Harry killed was the headmaster of a whole parallel school under the school which is all snakes and it really is parallel - there are snake equivalents of HP, Draco Malfoy, etc.
The difference is that they didn't let Voldemort happen because snakes aren't stupid enough to try to make horcruxes. Snake Tom Riddle is still alive having a great life and when he hears about human TMR he's like 'he did what now? okay I better go deal with him.'
Snake Harry's parents are still alive so there is a heartwarming scene when human HP gets to meet his snake parallel's parents.
The snakes are kind of upset that Harry killed their headmaster but they were more upset about the fact that he was being mind controlled insane, so it's all okay. -
