Though the demon remains silent and out of his head, Percy is left to figure out his new abilities with the help of his friends; though they find it just as confusing as he does. Percy has never liked magic much but when the Chroma Conclave make their attack on Emon he is grateful for the extra power.

The first years after losing Vax, they’d had days like this one much more consistently. It was Percy’s insistence, though most of them were eager. Every few months, they would gather up their friends, pry Keyleth loose from the Tempest, and reignite that lingering spark of adventurousness that remained within them all, just for a weekend. But once Pike and Scanlan had their kids, once the Darringtons really started to hurt for money, once Vex took up her new duties in Emon, it just became impossible to keep up with it all.
Vox Machina reunite for the first time in a while to hunt down some mysterious creatures causing havoc in the woods. One by one, they fall.

Two years after Dalen's Closet, Vex felt trapped by the mundane nature of the life she had fought so hard to get. When she mentioned that she wanted a vacation, what Vex really meant was that she needed an adventure. Thankfully, Wildemount and Tary had just the quest to help relieve some of that tension. So, Percy and Vex went on a trip... and of course Vex needed a reward for a job well done.

(This is as canon compliant as possible- though it is predicting the inevitable end of Campaign 3. This was written before C3E113, so any lore inconsistences or changes are due to that. This fic is set up to mimic the set up of an actual D&D game.)

She might just love it a bit less right now, though. Apparently something about turning Whitestone into a necromancer's paradise impacted weather patterns (guess it’s hard to raise undead in frozen ground?) - because during Winter’s Crest last year Percival remarked that it was an unusually balmy winter.

Percy sighs. “We both have our moments,” he says. “Just as we are both hot-headed at times, and stubborn as mules. Neither of us is innocent.”
Vex nods. “We have both done things we’re not proud of,” she says. “We are both haunted by mistakes we can’t take back and people we couldn’t save.”
“And we both do our best to live with that,” Percy says. “To live in spite of that. But not to forget.”
