Vex sees his feigned nonchalance; no matter how unbothered he looks, he never goes out of step with Percy. How tired she is, Gods. But she is safe, if only just for now. And protected. And Percy’s back, her Percy. And she can protect him. No, she will protect him. She’ll be damned if anything like this ever happens again.
