Summary
Matteusz was fine with being ignored. He didn't mind being used. As long as he could pretend to be loved, he would cope with anything. He carried others' burdens and hoped that one day they might help him in return. But with the Shadow Kin gone, he's cast out by the people he thought were his friends and left to watch them heal without him. Now, a new horror has crawled out of the rift and threatens to hunt them all down. With no one left to listen to him, Matteusz has to face his demons alone and fight the monster he is becoming.

Summary
Mateusz doesn’t feel stupid or awkward, though. For the first time in forever, his joke isn’t misunderstood because of his pronunciation, or a literal translation of a Polish saying. Charlie just looks puzzled, and it makes Mateusz laugh. It feels surprisingly easy and good to talk to him.

A group of conmen (and con women) living in the newly formed Republic of Rhodia cannot believe their luck when an amnesiac street orphan named Charlie falls into their laps, who just so happens to have a striking resemblance to the long lost Prince Charles, who was apparently killed along with his parents in the revolution eight years prior, although no body was ever found.
Now, all there is to do is take Charlie to London, convince his grandmother he is the Prince, and collect the reward money.
Oh, and Matteusz should avoid falling in love with him. Even though there is no way he could really be Prince Charles.Could he?

"Sometimes Matteusz thought that Charlie was purposely forgetting the bad. He couldn’t blame him. Charlie had lost his people. Everyone he had ever known, loved, and ruled were gone in the span of a day. How would remembering the bad help anyway? Perhaps it was better to remember only the good. Still, Matteusz couldn’t help but think that maybe Charlie wouldn’t get that face, that face that always broke his heart, so much if he remembered that no place was perfect."
It was a normal day until it wasn't. A tear opens up at Coal Hill Academy but instead of something coming out, Tanya, Matteusz, Ram, and April find themselves pulled inside and whatever caused them to get sucked in has a funny sense of humor. The four of them have to navigate their way through Charlie's memories of Rhodia, the true memories and not the ones he has shared with them, to find their way out. Perhaps some doors are better left unopened.
