A trans man in China, thousands of years ago. A war. A dragon. And a really hot man leading the army. What more could you want?
A trans man's journey to prove to himself, his family, and the world that he is who he says he is. If that means he has to break the law and fight in wars, so be it. Maybe he'll manage to save himself, and all of China while he's at it.
Disclaimer: I’m not Asian, just a white person. I’m basing this solely off the 1998 movie, and I’m aware of the many inaccuracies. However, this is a Disney retelling and not historical fiction, so I’ll do what I want. HOWEVER, if anything in here ends up being racist or culturally insensitive somehow please let me know so I can rectify it immediately, I just wanna write a story, though I know it’s perilous seeing as it’s about a culture other than my own.

Fa Mulan is joining the army to save her father as he is injured from the previous war is the story we all know and love, but the story we don't know is the story of her twin sister Hua who knew that Mulan was Ping and had to protect Mulan from herself. Hua is in for a huge surprise when she meets her future husband Jun as he is the son of the Emperor who is not only going into battle under a disguise but has insisted that his future wife should know how to protect herself and their future children and only Shang his best friend knows the truth and will be happy to train Hua and Jun in private under the stars so they can get to know each other without Chi-Fu butting in with his clipboard. With their new friends Chien-Po, Ling and Yao Mulan and Jun will keep Hua safe and Shan-Yu from destroying China is to work together. The only way for everyone to survive is to make sure no one you love dies in the process.

Shang recalled what Ping told him when he stormed out of Chi Fu's tent. He had come to terms with only being seen as another Li, chosen to lead the army because of his father's reputation as a general. A few had the balls to say outrightly to his face, while most had taken to sneering behind his back. The comments didn't bother him all that much now, but it sure felt good when someone vehemently believed otherwise.
The captain just wasn't expecting that someone would be Ping.
