Summary
For twenty-eight years Ferdinand simply existed. With an emotionally distant sister who couldn't return his affection and a collection of owners who had branded him as stupid and worthless, Ferdinand spent a lifetime miserable and alone. One day when he is sure that he will finally be scrapped for his faults, Ferdinand is sold to a struggling logging company on an island off the coast where he meets two little engines who have also been dismissed for being "stupid" and "worthless." With them, Ferdinand is finally not alone anymore. With them, Ferdinand is finally living.

Ferdinand accidently became a major character in SFaIB and so I challenged myself to write an angsty yet heartwarming backstory to make him and the twins likeable.If you just want to read a backstory for Ferdinand, it is not necessary to read Steel Flesh and Iron Bone first, but keep in mind that at the end there is a MAJOR spoiler for that fic.

Everybody knows that while very sweet, loving and a real gentle soul, Ferdinand isn't exactly the brightest bulb in the shed, but he has his uses outside of that and can get a job done pretty well!...
...however as of late he's started to gain some form of intelligence back! talking much more clearly and frequently instead of just a couple word sentences and has been getting a bit testy, everybody's started to notice and has been whispering about what caused the shift, whatever the cause is, it don't matter to Bash and Dash as they've got their minds set on "fixing" Ferdinand once more to be the big, dumb, stupid engine that they *all* know and love again!~

Summary
The Sudurian Gresley engine, Gordon believes himself to be a sophisticated and logical engine, thus, he is supposed to be much wiser and sensible than other engines. Gordon's logic, dignity and sanity is put to the test after the pompous engine chases after a 'rabbit' and finds himself on an adventure in Wonderland. (Parody of Alice in Wonderland, based on the novel and 1951 film)
