autumn 1987, pennsylvania. matías rodríguez and thomas lewis have been roaming around each other’s orbit for a few weeks now. thomas execrates matías — loud, sharp, like a bad chord you can’t shake. matías? well, he’s not exactly fond of thomas either, but maybe a little less. it’s complicated.
matías owes thomas a broken guitar and a debt he’s too broke to pay off, but that doesn’t stop him from being a nosy, sarcastic hoe — always poking around thomas’s business like he’s got nothing better to do. their only tutoring session so far was a disaster wrapped in sarcasm and half-hearted answers, but somehow thomas keeps ending up in matías sphere, probably out of pure bad luck or maybe something worse.
meanwhile, the dusty teens, pennsylvania’s barely-known underground punk band, are scraping together talent and noise. they need a bassist. a drummer and a frontman with a now non-existent is not enough. and maybe, just maybe, matías is exactly what they’re missing — the perfect fit in a band with teenagers trying to scream loud enough to be heard.

“Pretty boy,” Thomas mumbles, with a hitch of Matias’s breath, he glances down at the redhead with a warm look resting on his face.
“..Yeah?” He manages to let out, Thomas tightens the grip on his waist, Matias lets out a frustrated/embarrassed grunt.
In a drunken glance, Thomas moves upwards, making barely any room between the two boys’ lips. Matias’s curve into a tight line, and Thomas’s curve into slight smirk.
“Why do you let me stay here?”
“..What?”
