Maru hadn’t stared at a screen this intently since her high school exams. She tented her fingers, resting her chin and all of her hopes in her hands.
Neena: Just one thing…
Maru gritted her teeth as Neena took what felt like an eternity to reply.
Neena: Are there any decent men in the valley?
Birds roosting on the clinic roof took off in alarm at the loud bark of laughter from within.
Maru: Absolutely bloody not.
Neena:.........I'M IN.Maru is fed up with life in the sleepy, snowy valley and longs for the bright lights... Her city-dwelling friend Neena is sick of her grey existence in Zuzu City.
Each woman wants what the other has, so why not swap for the Winter Star season? After all, it's just a quick getaway, an escape from a life that doesn't seem to suit either of them. And it doesn't have to be permanent. Even as Maru and Neena meet friends old and new, and find themselves in need of something built to last...
(Based on 'The Holiday' starring Jack Black and Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz and Jude Law, and featuring a few nods to festive rom-coms. I plan to have this finished by Christmas/New Year!)
