It had been Daniel who had guided him to the first team’s designated area of the training ground, to offer to sit next to him in the coach on the way to games and room with him when they travelled anywhere. Daniel had acted as the bridge between him and the rest of the team, making sure to invite Max to sit with the smaller group that he was close friends with and eat with them at mealtimes. It was Daniel who put an arm round him if Christian wasn’t happy with how he was training or if he’d gotten in trouble during a match with a firm but friendly “now, Maxy, you know you can’t do that” with a grin as Max corrected him on what his name was.
Max has it bad and has lots of feelings about, well, everything.
