Twilight and Princess Peach are having themselves a vacation in a faraway land, starting in the ragged port city, Rougeport. They find a mysterious treasure map given to them by a mysterious trader, and not wanting to leave their friends out on discovering something exciting, they deliver letters to both Mario and Twilight's friends in Equestria, detailing their findings along with sending the map to the heroic plumber in red, and the gang set off to Rougeport to join the two princesses.
A far more dangerous game is afoot than Bowser's almost successful attempt months prior with the power of the Star Rod. A new enemy stands in their way, wanting to discover what lies beneath the port city, and they will do anything to open what is known as the legendary One Thousand Year Door. Not only that, but they have also managed to kidnap both Peach and Twilight, taking them hostage while the leader of this new group plans to uncover what secrets are hidden beyond this millennial doorway. Will Mario and co. be able to surpass this new foe and claim the treasure for themselves, or is there something far more sinister lurking deep below the land that could wreak havoc on the world?

After receiving a mysterious map in the mail, Mario sets off to the sketchy town of Rogueport for the adventure of a lifetime. Joined by many colorful, loyal allies, he must fight to save Princess Peach from the clutches of a dastardly organization called the Secret Society of X-Nauts!
That's not what this story is about. Instead, this is the tale of how the X-Naut leadership got to that point.
This explores the origins and motivations of Lord Crump and Sir Grodus. It starts out significantly before TTYD and will eventually lead up to the TTYD prologue. There’s lots of X-Nauts. Each and every one of them is stupid in their own unique way.

Summary
Vivian, having gotten Sir Grodus to back down on confining Vivian to his fortress when she is serving in his army, is now living with Ms. Mowz, who she has grown a lot emotionally with, and who has helped her become much happier and self-assured. When she gets a mission from Grodus, however, she finds she has a big moral dilemma. How will she deal with the petrifying challenge of keeping herself safe from the dangerous tyrant, while still doing what she feels is right?
This fic is a retelling of the events of Chapter 1 to Chapter 4, except with Vivian's happier life. This does diverge pretty heavily, especially later on, although the Crystal Star locations are the same as in the base game.

Now Karkat and his moirail, Gamzee , must set out across Rougeport, unraveling the mysteries of the Crystal Stars in order to find their friends, while the Mario Crew must figure out the harsh game of Sburb.
Rated for the Troll's language. Otherwise it's pretty mellow.
