“About that,” Will cut in. The alcohol in his blood burned through him like adrenaline, making his words far braver than he felt. “Who is he?” Hannibal blinked, startled into silence.
“Who is… who, exactly?” he finally asked. Will took another swig from the bottle before setting it sloppily down on the glass table in front of him. The bottle skidded for a moment before coming to a stop mere inches from the edge of the table, its contents splashing merrily against the sides of the container.
Hannibal and Will have been working themselves to the bone on cases in their own professions. When the weekend hits and Hannibal isn't home, Will's worst nightmares seem to be the only thing there to keep him company.
In a sudden rush of drunken honesty, they learn that communication is more easily understood without words.

“Will,” Hannibal bit out sharply. The sound was far more intense than Hannibal had intended but his great surprise, the profiler’s eyes snapped up meekly to meet his own. A sudden idea formed somewhere in the recesses of his mind- a thought so darkly decadent, he shut it down at once. But before it disappeared completely, he saw the absolute, brilliant simplicity of it.
He needs to let go of his control. Needs to listen… to feel. Just for a little while. But I would have to be delicate. Proceed with the utmost caution.When Will shows up at Hannibal's house in the middle of the night, distressed and incoherent beyond his own fear, Hannibal isn't quite sure what he can do to help.
With the help of a well placed demand and a little imagination, Hannibal takes the opportunity to explore just how far Will can be pushed... and where his own limits concerning the handsome profiler may lie.

They survived the fall and they're on the run, but Will has a hell of a lot to think about. He had told Hannibal once that he merely tolerated where Hannibal delighted, but that had not been precisely true... but if Will can’t make himself stop feeling it, then maybe he can use it. Maybe he can even find a way to let himself enjoy it.
