    In the other, the gods don't have such a blessing. Instead, having been cursed by Kronos for all their children to die before they can get to know them, before they can breathe- only a few surviving long enough to ascend to godhood. These Gods don't take their few surviving children for granted or send them on dangerous, life threatening quests. Surely they won't mind a few more?

    Paul used to think all the time about Sally and Poseidon’s relationship after she told him. It was a strange thing for Paul, after all, in all his previous relationships, the ex she told him to never worry about wasn’t the king of the ocean, whom she had a kid with. A very powerful and accomplished kid who was now a seven-year-old, who has no idea of the power that he has, or knows that he uses to regularly beat up gods before breakfast. Now, standing here on this cold beach, still grappling with the fact that he’s twenty-five again, he can’t help but compare Sally and Poseidon for what is probably the hundredth time. If Poseidon was the ocean, Sally was the Titanic, beautiful, elegant, and quite in its strength and integrity, but even though the Titanic might have been the strongest ship of its time, it was just another ship that the ocean sank.

    And standing right here in the past, facing the father of monsters like this, that couldn’t be clearer to him.

    It’s been 2 years since the Second Gigantomachy, 3 years since the Second Titanomachy, and 7 years since Perseus Jackson discovered his heritage.

    New buildings were rebuilt and new relations were formed. It took time but everyone is slowly moving forward with their lives, Percy included.

    As a way to work through his trauma, Percy turned his many journals detailing the last 7 years into 10 books and several short stories detailing his many quests as well as those of his friends. He put them away, content for them to be forgotten and never read.

    One day, while helping Percy organize his cabin, Nico stumbles upon the box that holds the manuscripts. When he asks Percy what they are, Percy explains and dismisses them. Nico, curious about them, tries to convince Percy to share them with their friends.

    Percy eventually relents, agreeing under 2 conditions.
    1. The books hold many secrets that aren’t his to share, the owners of those secrets must agree to the secrets being shared of their own volition
    2. The Olympians must join the reading.

     

    This is a ‘Reading the Books’ with a personal spin on it. There will be some changes to the canon. Don’t like, don’t read.

    Prophecies have always been something that brings the demise of others. To have a prophecy said during the birth of Hades himself, the god of the underworld, was never something that should have happened. The titans who were there to witness it never said it to a soul, yet none of them knew that Hades had also heard it, and remembered it well.

    The powerful words were never mentioned again, the secret being sealed away in Hades’s mind. That was, until the birth of Apollo. Hades never expected to be visited by Phoebe, let alone for those words to be spoken to him. Luckily, the being knew better than to utter the words in front of Zeus. Centuries later, when Apollo had discovered this prophecy, he knew that it could never be said in front of the king of the gods, especially since the children of the prophecy had already been born.

    And thus, we start the story of Nico Di Angelo, the son of Hades, and William Andrew Solace, the son of Apollo, the children of the first prophecy.

Even worse, Hera accidentally put him to sleep for an entire year instead of six months. It's December 2010, and without Percy's help in the war, Gaea and her giants claimed victory and drove the gods into hiding. With the Mist fallen and the world crawling with monsters, Percy must seek out the demigod survivors at Lupa's guidance as they prepare to make their final stand.

    Or an AU, dystopian retelling of Heroes of Olympus with a lot of plot twists: the canon divergence is not what you think it is, and the original plot gets entirely upended.
