Ellie moved to London in 1966, looking for a change, and after so many days spent inside her new apartment unpacking her luggage and decorating, she wanted a night out to explore the city's nighttime scene.
She immediately regrets entering the Rialto, cursing whatever stupid idea had made her decide to get dressed up and go out alone. She doesn't belong there; something known by every person inside who looks at her, and she's fed up with the stares and the lights and the noise of the crowded interior.
Just as she stands up to leave, though, the crowd around the dancefloor shifts, and she catches sight of a blonde woman dancing in its center, alluring and captivating and drawing Ellie closer as if on an invisible string.

Under the brilliant neon, she kneels in front of it. Tall, ornately framed and exquisitely polished, leaned up against her door where she’d taken it from its hiding place in the closet.
Her fingertips find her top button. She takes one last look at herself in the mirror– brown hair glowing nearly blonde under the white light, then her clothes and skin bathed in red and blue, back and forth. Her eyes fall shut, then; when she opens them, she locks eyes with something besides her reflection.
