When he poked his head through the door, he saw that Mass hadn’t started yet, the congregation sitting still in their seats, the priest not yet arriving. Almost apologetically, he sat in the back pew, in the chair nearest to the door.
As soon as his feet crossed the threshold, the bell stopped ringing, and the church was still.
There wasn’t the usual hurried whisper of gossip, or coughing, or the sound of people shifting to situate themselves, or the wind outside. Not even the sound of a single breath.
The door behind him shut with a heavy thud.

this AU is full of drama, slow burn and friendship. although it mostly focuses on the Saintspierre, all other characters get screentime and even own chapters. it's settet in todays Paris and focuses on studentlife-core.
when Robespierre comes to Paris to study, he not only gets to know the new city but also makes new friends. his acquaintance with Saint-Just almost distracts him from his ambitious goals, while Saint-Just begins to find out through Robespierre where his place in the world is.

Camille Desmoulins and Robespierre are close childhood friends. However, Saint-Just and Robespierre became quickly attached, making Camille jealous. He and Saint-Just can't stand each other but both want to be with Robespierre. This time, Camille had started making fun of Saint-Just, and he snapped at him angrily before Robespierre entered, and looked at the young man in disbelief. He knew both men disliked each other, but didn't think they's hate each other to that point.
