Summary
The mask was a curious thing, and not only for the effect it had on its wearers. It was not necessarily alive, at least not by human standards, but it did have some awareness and will of its own, imbued by whatever being that created it.
The mask rarely had any one owner for long, but this wasn’t much concern to the thing itself. Its primary goal was to spread mischief and chaos, and that could be done well enough, oftentimes even better, when it could hop from face to face. Outside of this goal, the whims of the mask were its own, and didn’t particularly care to stay with any one companion for too long anyways.
Usually, at least.

Summary
Ace Ventura is on the case! The eccentric pet detective has been called to Edge City by Stanley Ipkiss who’s loyal dog Milo has been dog-napped. While the two frantically search for Milo’s whereabouts, Ace also finds himself searching for the identity of a goofy green-faced man who has been intentionally crossing into Ace’s case.
Overwhelmed with conflicted feelings that terrifies the pet detective, Ace will have to face the troubles of his past which he has repressed for so long. Restrained memories have a way of coming back to you one way or another.

He stood next to the couch, cupping his hands and letting the green mist of his seidr collect in his palms. Two green illusions formed into the shape of birds. They both jumped out of his hands and flew into the hallway that led to the bedrooms. He waited until he heard the scurrying of footsteps and felt someone barrel into him.
"Pappa!"
Loki laughed and wrapped his arms around the boy.
The arms held him tighter, "Where have you been? I saw the news last year but that couldn't have been you! You would never!"
Loki noticed the little figure hiding behind his legs. He knelt down to the same level as the little girl.
She shyly hid behind his legs and Loki's heart broke. Half her life he was gone, so did she even recognize him?
"It's Pappa." The boy said softly.
"Pappa?" She whispered, then her eyes widened and she threw herself into Loki's arms, "Pappa come back!"

There’s plenty of discrepancies between the end of The Mask film and The Mask: The Animated Series. Here’s how I explained some of it away.
(Of course there’s even MORE discrepancies between both of these adaptations and the comics, but I haven’t read the comics. We’re working with the Jim Carrey film timeline.)
