How beautiful that unyielding determination of yours is. It’s so similar, yet so different from mine. Such a dark, impure reflection, and ever so tantalizing. It makes me want to ruin it all the more.”
“You’re insane.”
“And so are you, dear,” Chara responded smugly.

Chara gets bored of the many, many genocide loops Frisk has completed, and decided to delay the next reset in favor of a game, all to Frisk's dismay. Things escalate rather quickly.

Gaster’s life had been a simple one, built around a routine he found comfortable and familiar. Five days out of the week, he taught physics at the university where he worked, spending his lunch break with his two sons, both students at the same university. Each morning, he stopped by the coffee shop on campus for his morning coffee, spending a little more time there on weekends to work on his latest book. It wasn’t the most exciting routine, but he found it safe, familiar, it was his life.
So when the university hires a new groundskeeper who basically wreck his safe routine…what’s he to make of him? It doesn't help that his appearance seems to have triggered a domino effect that just takes Gaster's life off the rails. This professor needs a nap damnit, he's too old for this.

Asriel didn't know why, one day, he woke up and started to look at Chara differently than he ever had before, but it's like a switch in his brain has been flipped, and now it's all he can think about. And, even worse, it's causing him to think about Chara in a way he can hardly speak aloud, and doing things with Chara in a way he definitely can never speak aloud.
Of course, Chara has always been able to read him like an open book. He should have known he wouldn't get away with it for long.
