Loki has spent his entire life trying to shrug off his brother’s shadow, feeling as if he’d been born into a skin that didn’t fit him entirely. He’d never truly belonged anywhere, no matter how hard he had tried to carve a place for himself.
And yet Mobius feels right in a way that nothing has ever been. Things that have been so impossible with others are easy with Mobius.
The thought settles, syrupy and warm and at home in Loki’s chest. He takes in the open concern on Mobius’ face that is for him, against all odds, and finds that he no longer feels afraid.

Summary
The analyst had always been quite touchy. At first it was a characteristic that Loki had barely tolerated - if his sharp glances any time Mobius placed a hand on his shoulder were anything to go by - but he soon grew accustomed to it. Possibly even fond of it.
Mobius caught on quickly, because of course he did, and took almost every opportunity he could to offer Loki small gestures of physical affection. They never spoke about it though - they didn’t have to, their trust in each other transcended the need to. They both understood.
Which was why after the two came crashing back in to the Observation Room, Mobius followed Loki up the stairs as he began to ramble about finding Sylvie. With a grip on the rolled-up cuff of the other’s bloodied shirt, the analyst gently tugged. Loki, disheveled and frantic, cut himself off mid-sentence to shoot him a look of genuine confusion.

“By the way, before you slipped again, you were telling me what you wanted to say if you didn’t make it back…” Mobius inquired curiously
“But I did make it back, so it doesn’t matter.” Loki answered with a chuckle. Mobius looked disappointed at that answer and gave him a questioning look. When he didn’t elaborate further, the analyst just shrugged it off.
“Alright then.”
Loki smiled softly. He wasn’t sure if he’d ever say it. Maybe later, maybe never. But not now. Not yet.

Summary
Mobius had watched Loki's life on the Sacred Timeline from start to finish, more than just a couple of times— more than was necessary for his job, if he were being honest, which he tried to be. If there were certain parts he couldn't help reviewing over and over with a muddled, almost sickened fascination… well, it was one thing to know about Loki's daddy issues, and a whole other thing to watch Loki make a plaything of themself to the Grandmaster after their arrival on Sakaar, pretty and yielding under an older man's heavy hand, as pleasing as they could be in a bid for safety and survival.
The Loki who'd come into Mobius's care hadn't lived through that, but sometimes Mobius thought he caught a similar look in their eyes, a calculation of how far this older man in a position of power could be leveraged with what amount of giving in.
