“Are you planning to tell me how I’m still alive?” Romeo asks.
P blinks, perhaps surprised at Romeo’s coherency, or vitriol, or both. “I was able to preserve your Ergo. It was easy enough to construct that body after my own schematics."
Slowly, Romeo forces air into his chest, a humming buzz the only sensation beneath his fingertips. “And what does that make me now?”
The smile P gives is odd, as though he’s both unfamiliar with the practice of it and the emotion behind it all at once. “Like me, I think.”
Or, Romeo is revived in a puppet body similar to P's, just in time to meet a familiar face from Venigni's past that threatens both his quickly forming bond with P and all of Krat's new, fragile peace.

The last thing Lea saw when she closed her eyes in the Rose Garden was the corpse of the gray-haired stranger. The last thing she felt was grief. She and her mysterious companion had failed, and Romeo would pay the price just as Carlo had before. She had been living a nightmare which had finally come to its bloody, bitter end.
It must have been a nightmare. Why else would she have woken up?
Meanwhile, P awoke to a Krat even more foreign to him than the one he'd seen in Lea's time. This bright, thriving city had yet to experience the worst of its troubles. And with the Carlo of this time still alive and well, P realized he could keep it that way. Alone, it would be a difficult fight. Luckily, someone who had lived those same nightmares was just as determined to keep them from ever coming to pass.

He reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a photograph. He held it gently, as if it were as fragile as thin glass, and turned it over in his hands. Three faces met his own. One a woman red of hair, eyes closed and head tilted to let the magic of the moment wash over her. One a young man, hair gold like the sun and hanging almost to his shoulders and his head turned to the side with a grin that he aimed at the woman. And the last, another man of an age with the first, hair like the black of night with a face that was a mockery of his own, or his mockery of theirs, more like.

P-Organ is left with only one question after his father sacrifices his own life to save him: who am I really?
Thus far, P-Organ has followed the whims and instructions of others, tearing through the ruined city of Krat to return the cobblestone roads to their former glory. But as unwanted memories start sifting in and P-Organ grapples with his newfound humanity, he can't help but think of the King of Puppets he defeated months prior.
After returning to the opera house, where the battle had transpired, something snaps into place, something P-Organ cannot recognize. All he knows is that he must revive Romeo.
And he will stop at nothing to do so.
--aka a post epilogue fic where Romeo is fixed and the hotel gang tries to fix Krat!

He had hope. Neither Venigni nor Sophia were sure this would work. Venigni said it was possible, but to him, anything was possible. Sophia told him if his heart wished for it enough, it would work. When he asked Eugénie, she said only Geppetto would know. He didn't like her answer, and some semblance of anger bloomed in his chest, although he couldn't quite understand why.
So now, perhaps in hopes the one-winged angel could hear him, or perhaps in atonement for trying his hand at playing God, he found himself praying at the chapel just before the cathedral. P wasn't particularly familiar with the concept of God, and he didn't think Manus or the archbishop were good examples of where people would direct their faith towards.
However, he could understand it somewhat when he thought about the Saintess of Mercy, and the puppet cradled in her arms. It felt safe, hopeful, to think there was a saintess watching over him. He hoped she'd watch over Romeo, too.
