Based on this tumblr prompt/post:
The hero shows up at the villains doorstep one night. They’re shivering, bleeding, scared. There’s also a slight dazed look in their eyes – they were drugged. They look like they were assaulted. Looking up at the villain, swaying slightly as they’re close to passing out, they mumble “…didn’t know where else to go…” Then collapse into the villains arms. except it’s less “villain” and more “vague annoyance/enemies to lovers type deal” <3been running from it for the longest time is Kaz whump, your tears as they fall is Nikolai whump. I could not decide who I wanted to fill which role, so both it will have to be :)

Zoya and Nikolai have lost touch over the years, but they reconnect with each other (and some old friends) when they and their partners move back to Os Alta to raise children. Life before this had seemed like it was calm, predictable, sometimes even dull. But adulthood, marriage, and parenthood were never bound to be simple for these two.
Edit: I am finally getting back to the computer to write! It will still be slow going, but I'm cautiously optimistic. The Darkling was stuck in a tree, Fjerda was starting to change under their crown prince and his waffle-loving wife and the stupid cripple with the stupid haircut and the stupid punchable face was minding his own buisness in Ketterdam.
So, everything was fine in Queen Zoya's Life.
...until it wasn't.
Because suddenly, Sabina Garin seemingly remerbers she has a daughter, a daughter on the throne of Ravka no less, and demands to be made Queen Mother.A story in wich we find out about the abuse Zoya faced in her early childhood, Liliyana is alive and thriving and on the way to save her niece's ass, David is fine and building things for his wife and Nikolai and Genya are there to support Zoya with absolutely everything, even if it includes kicking Zoyas own mother out of the palace.
This is my first work on Ao3 and I'm not a native english speaker so please have mercy. I just wanted to write some Zoya Angst/ comfort.
