Summary
In the wake of Francis’s disloyalty with Olivia, Mary finds herself alone in pain, playing a game of waiting as Francis does as he pleases. Sebastian is leaving the castle, though, and he has a proposition for her that doesn’t involve any more waiting on her behalf—if she isn’t afraid to take what she wants, and if she isn’t afraid of him. Knowing she needs to get away from the castle, Mary joins Sebastian in the countryside. Follows directly after the events of 1x06.

This is a Reign fanfiction, in which I write my original character into the story and change several story events and plots from the show. The fic begins before the events of Reign, with the story really picking up around late summer/early fall 1554, three years prior to Mary’s arrival. Lady Inès returns to court with the singular purpose of revenge against the man that murdered her family, her uncle Laurent. She is both aided and derailed by old friends as she navigates life at court using her empathic abilities. A chance encounter with the court seer, Nostradamus, changes everything. Now she finds herself caught in the middle of the most powerful men in the kingdom. The main character (oc), Inès Chevalier, is only thirteen when the story starts progressing. However, in 1554 that would have made her mere months away from marrying age. The perspective is third person, limited, told almost entirely from Inès’ view with her perceptions and empathic abilities. This should span several years and she has intense relationships with the main cast. Cover art inside!

But after Mary's return, Kenna's life once again becomes defined by royal commands and royal acts.
