“You know, Hokma,” Ayin spoke up in the midst of silence of the Floor of Religion, the older man beside him indulging in books of many, whether they had been previous guests or general gifts. Readjusting his monocle after his name was called, looking up at Ayin, who was sitting with crossed legs on the table in the centre.
“Sir Ayin, you cannot simply just call my name and then not continue,” his voice croaked slightly as he spoke, the faint wrinkles on his face showing more emotion and confusion at the other’s actions than he probably would like to.

Roland can’t feel it. He can’t feel the pressure of her lips, he can’t feel her warmth, he can’t feel the pain sublimated into pleasure. He can’t even hear her breaths, delineated by each rise and fall.
It’s just a replica, 525 horizontal lines redrawn 60 times a second, analog reality discretized, strands of hair blurring together as she flips the man onto his back.
Roland makes the ill-advised decision to watch an old tape he and Angelica made. It doesn't go well.

He finds Netzach half-asleep on a couch, drinking lazily. The two exchange dry banter — Roland teasing, Netzach too tired to care — before Roland joins him.
