Summary
Moomin Valley is full of wonderful and unpredictable surprises, but none as surprising as the day she showed up in Moominmamas garden. Nobody understands how she got there, or if she 'll vanish just as mysteriously as she came. The strange woman from another land far into the future must decide if she will shed her past life and fall into the ways of Moominvalley, or if she will simply wait to vanish again. It's impossible to tell which decision is correct and it may drive her mad.
Meanwhile, she begins to fall in love with the valley and everybody there, especially a certain vagabond who suddenly understands the painful side of not knowing. -

Summary
Snufkin is ill. He usually pushes himself to get through it, but this time Moominmamma caught on before his condition could worsen. Snufkin begins to feel caged, especially since winter is coming up. He worries that he may not be able to make his trip to the South in time, and spending quality time with Moomin is making him even more anxious for what’s to come.
His newly found feelings for his dearest friend makes Snufkin terrified that he may accidentally spill his deepest, darkest secret. His attempts to hide his true feelings fail.

“Then you did. And now you learn what it does to others. That’s not failure. That’s living.”
He said it like it was just a thing to know. Like how you had to peel bark away gently if you wanted to find the beetles underneath, or how the wind always made a hollow sound before rain. A piece of knowing that didn’t come from books or grownups or trying very hard, but from… living. Moomin thought Snufkin had a great many pieces like that. Moomin wanted some, too.

Summary
Snufkin and Moomin get into a fight right before Snufkin leaves, right before the Winter Hibernation. They part ways without making up, Moomin going to bed without sending Snufkin off, and Snufkin leaving without saying Goodbye. What Moomin doesn't realize is that the Mumrik waited all day before leaving, waited to say goodbye, waited for Moomintroll. What Snufkin doesn't realize is that Moomin thought he was mad, thought he wanted nothing to do with the troll, wanted to be alone.
When Spring rolls around, Moomin forgets about the fight upon awakening, forgets that they never made up. So he's surprised and saddened when no familiar spring tune greets him, no familiar tent is set up by the bridge. The spring birds are whispering something, though, something that worries Moomintroll.
"Did you hear? Snufkin has gone invisible."

Moomin’s touch sends a bolt of electricity up his spine, sharper than any spark from a hattifattener. This is new too, the touching, holding, hugging, whatever name for it is used. The most contact Snufkin settles with is often a hearty handshake. He stiffens at first, and for a few moments he stays that way. But once Moomin’s tail curls around him, he melts like butter atop a crisp slice of toast.
It’s all foreign, and horrifying, and personal, and smothering, but most importantly of all it’s nice.Or: Snufkin learns how to love and be loved.
