There had never been a time at which Spot had understood the want for gambling. It wasn’t like any of the working kids had enough money to spare as it was with needing to buy their lodging and food, and then half of them gambled it away at poker, snaps or betting rings for races or fights.
Spot was always smart enough to know he’d much more lose than gain if he started, so he’d never even participated in a game of dice or marbles if it was for money. He rather used his glass marbles for shooting anyways.
