He took his pencil. It was his favourite, and it had accompanied him through so many sketches that he had grown attached to it. It had a certain weight, as if that lifeless object was starting to get a soul.
So, when he started sharpening it with a cutter and the lead broke as he put too much pressure on it, his upstairs neighbours heard Sunday’s desperate screams loud and clear.Sigh. Lately, nothing had gone right.
It was Gallagher’s fault and only – he constantly was on his mind, akin to a woodworm that chewed on a bookshelf, greedy and insatiable.
After a year spent in crisis over a degree he has come to regret, Sunday finally decides to submit to the Arts major. Starting his new life as an art student in Rome, he’s determined to prove to everyone – mostly his family – he’s not a feckless, spoiled child.
Apparently, he does. In a year, he grows a reputation; his studies dripping with care and dedication.
