TagsSummarySo this is a little “what if” I’ve been playing with. What if Hei-Ran wasn’t supportive of Rangi choosing to follow her heart? What if she leaned harder into duty, expectations, and alliances, instead of giving Rangi space to choose for herself? This idea takes place in The Rise of Kyoshi timeline—right after Kyoshi defeats Tagaka. In this version, nobody believes she’s the Avatar, and everything continues as it “should”… at least on the surface. That tension—between what’s expected and what Rangi really wants—sits at the core of this AU. I’m still debating whether I want to turn this into a full fic, so let me know if you’d like me to continue it. 💭

Who are you, and what do you want?”
 — Uncle Iroh, Avatar: The Last AirbenderCanon divergence AU. What if Kyoshi had chosen three more toys on that fateful day in Yokoya? Discovered as the Avatar at six years old, she’s raised under Jianzhu’s hand — molded into perfection, trained to obey, and taught that peace is worth any cost. A three-part reimagining of The Rise of Kyoshi, where the question isn’t if she’s the Avatar — but who she becomes because of it.

On the eve of her eighteenth birthday, the arrival of a stranger in the tower seems to pose danger. But might he be the key to her finding out about these strange lights? Avatar Legends: Shifting Seas by CymberleaFandoms: Avatar: The Last Airbender, Avatar: The Rise of Kyoshi06 Jul 2022 TagsSummaryThis is a fic written for the #KyoshiNovelsbb2022. It is a prequel/side story featuring an original character and exploring the pirates of the Southern and Eastern Seas in the very early days of what would become the Kyoshi Era. The characters meet and interact with many of the main ones from the novels including, Kyoshi, Rangi, Yachey Hong, Tagaka, Yun, Kelsang, Hei-Ran, and Jianzhu. It is canonical in nature and tries to remain true to the characters and environments created by Michael DiMartino, Bryan Konietzko, and as laid out in the Avatar Legends Role Playing Game. Consider it an effort in “world building,” and the simple fact that fictionalized pirates are just plain fun to write. If all of that sounds good to you, then hoist the main sail, and let’s cast off with Avatar Legends: Shifting Seas.
