Summary
Frank Langdon has really messed up, and now he's alone, fighting a losing battle. The ED is full of judgmental stares from people who are meant to be his friends over what is essentially a misunderstanding (that might be a slightly strong word).
I loved Langdon's storyline, and I also love fantasizing all the different directions it could go/could've gone.

Summary
“I didn’t know you smoke,” he says, breaking the silence. “You seem too sensible, a model doctor and all that,” Mel turns her head to look at him, small smile on her face. “I think you’re plenty sensible too, but here you are,” Frank lets out a chuckle at that. Being with her made him feel the opposite of sensible, but she didn’t need to know that.

Summary
Frank Langdon makes it out of rehab unscathed. Well, mostly. Rock bottom leaves nowhere to go but up, and whoever said recovery isn’t linear was making the understatement of the year. For Langdon, it’s more like a train wreck drawn in crayon. These days he’s picking up the pieces–working the night shift, asking for forgiveness, rebuilding trust, and fighting for his kids.
His life is a complete fucking mess. But if there’s one thing he knows about himself, it's that he’s stubborn. He will pull through. Even on the days he doesn’t want to.

Summary
Tanner, like a secondary domino who’s just been swayed by the first toppling over, threatens to join her. His round blue eyes are filling with tears, glistening under the streetlights, his trembling chin in full display now that he’s yanked the spiderman mask to the top of his head to have this discussion.
Frank feels like his entire body is one big nerve end exposed.

Summary
Encountering his ex-wife in the Pitt was the shit cherry on an already shitty day. Add to that his worst secret being revealed. Well, Frank never did seem to have the best of luck, but maybe something or rather someone might be able to help turn that around.

Summary
“Think you’ll ever get married again?”
The question came from Abbot, directed straight to Frank alone. The smug smirk on Abbot’s face as he stared across the table at Frank made that clear. That and the fact that Frank was the only person at the table who had been married before, besides Abbot himself.
It should have been a throwaway question.
Yet there was a right and wrong answer to this question.

“Your pep talk needs some work.”
“Yeah, you’re not getting the med student version out of me, King. You’ve got this, and you know it.”
Well, when he put it like that, Mel did know it.

Summary
“I know what I did is unacceptable,” Frank says, voice low but unwavering. “I know I’m going to have to answer for it. But I just—” He swallows hard. “He was strangling her, Robby. I saw her eyes roll back and nothing was working. Jesse couldn’t get him off her. I couldn’t get to her fast enough. She was right there, and I couldn’t reach her.”
“You did what you thought you had to do to protect her.” He gives Frank’s shoulders a small squeeze.
“That’s what you do. You and Mel. You protect each other. ”

Summary
Like the one Frank thinks of now, as he stares at the ceiling. He can practically heat Mom’s voice, chipper and raspy and kind of grating: Time flies when you’re having fun!
Frank is not having fun. It must be why time seems to have stilled.
