“I thought I lost you,” Shouto whispers as he lies in the too-small hospital bed next to Izuku, cradling Izuku’s head in his arms. “When I got your text, I swear I almost couldn’t breathe.”
Izuku squeezes where his arms are around Shouto’s midsection and breathes into Shouto’s neck. “But you didn’t. I’m fine, we’re all fine. All thanks to you for finding me.”
Shouto snorts. “Yes, and your vague text.”
“Hey, we did get something good out of today, didn’t we?” Izuku says with a smile that Shouto can feel against his neck. He pulls back a little and unwinds Izuku’s arm to look at the soulmark stamped across his wrist. The words are so bold and firm while the ones on Shouto are gentle curls and swoops, and Shouto wonders what it says about them.
Or, the one in which everything is the same but with soulmates and magick.

Bakugou Katsuki was born with a soulmark on his calf that bonded him to Midoriya Izuku. A mark that burned him every time he hurt his soulmate, not that it ever stopped him — he was just careful about doing it.
But there’s a reason the mark burns; Fate is warning him of her displeasure, and ignoring the burn for too long during battle trials results in Fate taking drastic action.
Suddenly, Bakugou has only blackened flesh where the mark used to be, Midoriya’s arm looks as if he never had a mark in the first place, and Markless Todoroki Shouto steps up to help Midoriya through the difficulty of suddenly losing a soulbond.
When Todoroki and Midoriya clash during the Sports Festival, Fate decides to interfere again — though for a much nicer reason, this time.
