Summary
Separated from her family and suffering the consequences of her secret being exposed, Andra struggles to find herself again without Eivor and her children. She knows that more is going on than meets the eye and every day she spends away from Ravensthorpe, the more she feels a looming danger is approaching.
At the same time, Eivor struggles with Andra's absence and her brother's spiraling downfall. Fulke may be dead, but her influence is still seen in Sigurd's choices and mindset, leaving an unspoken danger to rise within the village. She fears for not only her family's safety, but also for her clan as tensions rise in England.
Both have their struggles, but hope isn't lost just yet as both continue forward in making their future possible again.

“Eivor?” Randvi’s eyes glanced down Eivor’s form before flicking back up to their face. “I hardly recognize you.” She let out a little laugh. “Although you were what, only 14 when I saw you last?”

When news comes out that Raven Ridge State Park is under threat of development, journalist Randvi travels back to her small hometown with the intent of writing an article about the closure. This is supposed to be a short trip to visit with her sister and remind herself why she left in the first place. However, she doesn't account for the head park ranger to be none other than Eivor, who tagged along with her and Sigurd twelve years ago in high school. Together, they come up with a plan to save the park, but Randvi's time back home is running out. They'll both have to decide what they want and what they're willing to do for it. Can they find a way back to each other in all the uncertainty?

The suggestion had seemed wise, but now that over a decade passed and that the memories haunt Eivor she wishes Randvi wouldn't have said anything...But she can't resent her for it, no one could have guessed that she had such a horrible past. It stops her from being happy sometimes, as if she didn't deserve the happiness she had, the ghosts in her mind agree with her. She never should have asked Valka about visions of the gods back in Fornburg, she should have left it alone...
