Bruce had never known how to deal with John, and he'd made so many mistakes it wasn't a surprise that the man he couldn't help considering a friend ended up going off the deep end.
He was fully prepared for the chapter of his life with John in it to be ended with Joker, and an empty part of him that he would have to try to ignore.
But he should have known that Arkham couldn't hold someone like John. And that neither of them had it in them to give up.
