Summary
Louis writes. Not for a purpose, he just has words in his head that he puts on paper. He writes love letters where he pours his heart until it combusts, saying how he aches and burns out of love. They're never for anyone, though, because Louis isn't in love, and he has never been, but somehow he can write it as if he feels it. He can't keep them, because they feel like lies, so he puts them inside books and drops them anywhere.
That should be the end of the story, really, but Harry finds a book one day, and there's a note in it, and the words are too beautiful for him to think of anything else but whoever wrote them. -

Summary
Louis blinks his eyes open, his eyelids fluttering as the room swims around him. He takes several gulps of beer once he confirms that he’s definitely not hallucinating, that the very first portrait Harry Styles ever painted of him is hanging on that wall.
Louis stares at the wall, his heart jackrabbiting in his chest as he realizes that there’s not just one painting of him, there’s five, the portraits lined up like they’re some sort of storyboard depicting the rise and fall of his deepest love. His greatest heartache. A pain that cut him so deep that he left the fucking country, severing all ties with his life in New York, now suddenly surrounding him as if he’d never left.
Fucking shit motherfucker fuck.
Louis returns to New York City five years after he left it – and the love of his life – behind. He didn't intend to see Harry again, but fate has a funny way of pulling them together, whether they like it or not. After making a begrudging truce, they both start to wonder: Would it be so bad if history repeated itself?

Louis sits at his desk now, reclined in his chair with a knee pulled to his chest. His journal sits open against his thigh as he stares outside and watches the dogwoods sway in the wind, lost in thought about this life he’s fallen into and never imagined for himself even a year ago. Harry pulls him from his daydream when he leans over his shoulder to kiss his jaw, handing off a mug of steaming tea, made just the way Louis likes. It’s so thoughtful and kind, but Louis knows Harry doesn’t think about these things, just does. He does them because he loves Louis, loves him despite his shit everywhere that makes their (their) flat messier than Harry would like, despite Louis’ odd hours he keeps now that he’s onto his next novel.
Louis takes a careful sip of his tea, the steam rising to his face, and writes.

Most meet their demise by bleeding out from the inside, while the unlucky ones choke on their own blood as their lungs are flooded with the scarlet liquid.
Who would have thought that during such an outbreak that has the world on its hinges that two unlikely pairs could find love in the most tragic of circumstances.
