Hope is also in a form that all creatures yearn for; freedom. It isn't a simple desire but a definite need for it. Caging a creature for too long will result in a deeper longing for freedom and Zhu Yan understood the feeling more than anyone.

Summary
After a productive day of shopping in the mortal realm til’ their pockets practically ran dry, the two Great Demons dragged their feet back home carrying with them a bunch of goodies and, in Zhu Yan’s case, a very drunk man on his back.
That night, he tossed Li Lun on the bed, who sprawled on it like a discarded pancake, and hopped straight to bed without even bothering to kick off his shoes.
A subtle emptiness beside Zhu Yan woke him up the following morning and when he rolled over, he was surprised to find himself not being cuddled in Li Lun’s arms as he usually would be.
Instead, what lay in the other’s place was a small sapling that was the size of a hand.
It didn’t take long for the disoriented monkey to put two and two together and figure out that this sapling was none other than his mighty, all-formidable bosom buddy.
In its 34,000 years of living, the monkey came across all sort of formidable foes, was in all sorts of unpredictable situations, yet always found a way to navigate through them.
This particular sight, however, made the otherwise-confident monkey begin to question its ability and judgement.
It.. was at a complete loss for the first time in its life!
