They were semi straight-laced students. Good with grades and never really went against their teacher. They kept their posting to early mornings or after school, never really posting during school.

Summary
The smile grew, and Ash shifted to gather Pikachu up in his arms, tight and warm and fond. “Oh, buddy, you know I love you, right?”
Ash was silly, Pikachu remarked, because of course he knew, and of course he loved Ash back too. They pulled out the malasadas, eating them slowly, savoring the taste, as the breeze ruffled Ash’s hair and Pikachu’s fur. “It really is a beautiful day, huh? Like the universe is smiling down on us.”
It better be, Pikachu grumbled, only feigning annoyance. You’ve saved it enough times.
“Pikachu,” he admonished, only feigning chagrin, “you know we don’t do that for recognition.”
We should still get it, though, went unsaid, but Pikachu’s tail was flicking a little, miffed.
Ash looked up at the clouds, falling back. “We sure have been at it for a long time, haven’t we buddy?”
alternatively: the professors get married and also Ash doesn't tell anyone it's his birthday.

Kukui makes a bad Pokemon pun, and Ash tries to send him an annoyed look, but his giggles reveal his genuine reaction. Ash looks out the side window as Kukui drives through an intersection. Ash tenses up.
Kukui looks over and spots headlights swerving right towards them, only blocked by Ash's silhouette.
Kukui gasps, trying to swerve the car to miss the incoming accidents. He doesn't make it.
Kukui feels a grunt as the car gets flipped over. He bites his teeth down to avoid biting on his tongue as he braces for impact.
Kukui blacks out.

And maybe he should have realized that the minute he fought a god, and maybe he should’ve realized that when Ash jumped off a cliff to save Pikachu, and maybe he should have realized that after all the other reckless things Ash has done in the six or so weeks he’s been in Alola so far.
But after all that, it’s this that makes Kukui angry.
