Summary
“T-that’s good. Please, I… I…” Caine sniffed. His shoulders trembled as he forced the words out. “You can fix me all you want, but if you really think you’re making a difference, let me… feel good.”
Kinger’s heart shattered into a thousand pieces in that moment. If he had a mouth, it would surely be hanging open.
Then Caine opened his mouth, letting Kinger look into his tear-filled eyes.
“I-I thought that by torturing you guys, I...” He rubbed his arm across his eyes in a futile attempt to dry the tears. “I thought that was what I needed to finally feel good, but it was not! Why?!”
Kinger stood up from his chair, but didn’t dare take another step forward when Caine aggressively gestured his hand at him.
“I-I never feel good! I live to make you happy and get nothing in return,” he cried. “I want to be able to feel. I-is that too human for me, too?!”
Or, Kinger manages to shut down Caine at the end of episode 8. He's now trying to fix it, but unresolved issues get in the way.

Grant had learned to drown it out after a couple months of working at C&A, but there were infrequent nights of heavy-duty work and stress that got under his skin enough for the background noise to drive him insane.
Since he'd begun working on Caine, however, these nights had become far less uncommon and far more draining.

When Kinger is teleported away by Caine to probably get shredded again, something else happens between creator and creation.
The lights are dimmed, a conversation is had, and a questionable method to make Caine give them a break is executed.
