    Finally, Lenore Dove brings a hand down to rest on one of Maysilee's shoulders. There's a slight hesitation, and then her fingers are hooking into the thin strap of Maysilee's tank top. Lenore Dove's eyes flicker down to where her hand is, her lips parting in a long, trembling inhale of need.

    "I want to feel you," she pleads, her eyes flicking back up to Maysilee's. "I-I want to feel that you're still here."

    The realization of what Lenore Dove is implying finally clicks into place for Maysilee.

    Her sleep-deprived mind, though now wide awake, can't seem to comprehend that this is real. That this isn't a shameful fantasy, that Lenore Dove is on top of her, wild curls and darkened eyes bathed in firelight, waiting for Maysilee's permission to touch her.
