Adrien makes a wide gesture at the cloak, careful to keep his distance, and tilts his head and widens his eyes in a way that he's well aware resembles a pleading kitten. It doesn't work on most people he knows anymore- Ladybug usually snorts and tries to shove him off the roof, and Nino only sighs and rolls his eyes at this point- but Marinette turns even redder and hastily agrees.
Adrien's latest photo shoot doesn't go as planned.

Adrien hisses in embarrassment, A moment later, he turns bright red and throws his arm over his face to block out the sight of Nino's delighted grin. It does nothing to block out the noise Plagg makes, which this time is definitely laughter. "Not a word Nino."
"Not a word about what?" Marinette's voice calls out, and Adrien's swinging upright and twisting eagerly towards the window before she's even halfway through that sentence.
"Nino's picking on me," Adrien explains, climbing to one knee but not getting any further before Marinette is dropping down beside him with a sigh anyway. She immediately leans against him and lets him duck down and rub his cheek against her hair, which he knows means he's purring again and loudly at that, but it's so worth it.

A third person abruptly throws herself down with a huff onto the other half of the bench.
"A week and a half," Chloe says, fuming, and Marinette pauses and exchanges a confused glance with Adrien. "A week and a half! Adrikins, I've only been gone for a week and a half, how has that- that harlot tricked everyone into thinking she's the greatest person ever to grace them with their presence?" Chloe tosses her hair back as she sniffs and adds, "Which would actually be moi, naturally. Or Ladybug, I suppose." Her voice turns syrupy sweet as she says, "Not that they shouldn't appreciate you as well, Adrien."
Marinette has to take several more deep breaths, but she finally manages to hiss out (and it is nearly a hiss, Chat Noir would be proud), "Want to join us, Chloe?"
(Marinette and Adrien aren't the only ones upset by Lila's lies).

Nino's fairly fast. He's faster now than he used to be, and he's way more acrobatic. He knows he could climb the rough walls on either side of the alley, given a chance.
Like the kind of chance he could maybe get by throwing a bait wallet down the alleyway past knife guy.
Knife guy's not giving him that kind of chance.
Nino really wishes he'd listened to Alya.

Chat Noir pulls a face, though he makes absolutely no attempt to move from where he's sprawled with his head across Nino's stomach. Nino's got one hand buried in his hair, scratching just behind his ears as they twitch and swivel, so Marinette's sure Chat's not going to move unless or until something makes him.
Odds are beginning to tip in favour of an akuma battle forcing him up, because it's not looking like anything else is going to.

Nooroo's fighting some of Father's strongest commands to be here.
The Gorilla signs Adrien's name, then points to the open door. You need out, now.
Adrien slides off the couch and wobbles when he stands. The Gorilla takes two long strides towards him, stops when Adrien flinches, and then very gently takes Adrien's arm. On the Gorilla's shoulder, Nooroo slumps, wings fluttering weakly.
The Gorilla hesitates, but after Adrien stumbles again and then freezes up in the doorway the Gorilla picks him up and makes his own much faster way out and down the hall to an exit.
The window lock is broken. The window looks out on the gardens, and Adrien-as-cat can make the jump down to the nearest tree from here.
The Gorilla sets him on his feet and turns to force the window open.
The fact that it's warped shut doesn't stop the Gorilla from finding a way to force it open.

There's a hand-painted sign outside Luka's room that says no girls allowed.
It takes a while for Adrien to be comfortable enough to ask about it.
It takes Rose rapping on it with her knuckles one day and Luka sighing deeply before he recites, "You don't count, Rose."
Rose ducks inside, grinning brightly.
Juleka joins them the next night, and she knocks on the sign too. Her notes are a different pattern, one that Adrien only half-remembers.
Luka's sigh isn't quite as deep. "Jules, you know you don't count."
Juleka brings journals and music with.
A week later, Adrien's sprawled across Luka's bed, reading one of Juleka's magazines while Rose's nail polish dries on his toenails, when a tapped-out pattern that doesn't match either Juleka or Rose drags him halfway back to awareness.
Half-asleep on the floor of his room, Luka drowsily calls back, "It doesn't mean you, Marinette, you don't count."
"Luka," Adrien finally asks, once Marinette's ducked in with them and made herself comfortable. "Does anyone count?"

Alya's gonna have to update their list again.
"Who's it!" Freeze Tag bellows from somewhere back behind them, because Freeze Tag apparently can't be bothered to remember the rules to his own stupid game.
Alya keeps running, barely slowing down as they hurdle over obstacles, registering the damage around them in a way they haven't done mid-battle in a long time now because there's no real point because Ladybug's Cure will set it back to rights before Alya's even transformed back.
But right now- right now, Ladybug's frozen, standing still as a statue somewhere way too far behind Alya.
But.
But Alya doesn't have Chat Noir, either.

She can't find Chat.
They were supposed to meet for patrol an hour ago.
Chat never misses a patrol, and he was supposed to meet her an hour ago, and Marinette can't find him anywhere.
So, she might be panicking a little. She might be panicking a lot more than she'd thought not being able to locate her partner would cause, especially since it's not like she usually knows where he is. Most of the time she has no idea where he is and it doesn't usually bother her. It's not something she usually even really thinks about very much.
But Chat Noir was supposed to meet her here an hour ago and he's still not here. There's no note, no Plagg, no message on her yo-yo. There's nothing to let her know where her missing partner might be, or why he isn't already here with her like he's supposed to be.
And-
And Marinette might be feeling a little clingier than usual, right now.

"Home sweet home," Adrien grumbles, detransforming as he slips through the apartment window.
He's pretty sure this apartment's been sold, now, and that means that he's going to have to find another place within the week. He'd like to find one sooner than that, but he's worn out enough from the four akuma today that he doesn't even want to muster the energy to look for some place new right now. There are roofs and alleys he can claim for a night or two until he has time to look, anyway.
Plagg's so tired that his grumbling doesn't manage words. He wanders over to the backpack they'd stashed in a corner, out of view of any windows, and phases into it instead of bothering to pull any of his cheese out.
(They'd run out of the last of their Camembert days ago, but Plagg got upset enough when Adrien kept apologising for only being able to get him cheddar that he's not going to bring it up again).
