The concern on his face must have been obvious as his husband’s demeanour immediately changed. He turned around his upper body, remaining in his lotus position, and started poking Lan Zhan’s serious expression, trying to make him smile.
“Ahh, I know. Aiyo, don’t look so serious. That’s not what I meant. With disappearing, I mean my old me. Wei Wuxian, Head-Disciple from Yunmeng Jiang Clan. With a groan, Nie Mingjue turned around in his bed, pressing his face into his pillow accompanied by a long sigh before he gathered enough energy to swing his legs out of his bed. The bright red numbers on his alarm clock felt like they were burning his eyeballs. 04:07. Fucking 4 am. Was he fucking serious?!

Beside him suddenly stood a man almost as tall as he himself, hidden under a dark purple cloak. The deep voice had startled Lan Xichen. Though his body was too slow to react accordingly, not moving an inch. The man slid down the hood from his head, lifting it in the process to not tear at his hairpiece. The movement caused more water to drip from his clothes to the floor, adding to the puddle Lan Xichen had been creating since his arrival. Not that he cared. Because as soon as the other man revealed his face, dread started to crawl up his spine. Beside him was standing Sect Leader Jiang. Ignoring the fact that Lan Xichen had been almost completely isolated for a year and could barely muster enough self-control to ask a random innkeeper for a room, he definitely wasn't in any way ready to face a fellow cultivator, let alone one of the people who had been present that very day a year ago. A person who had seen him break into pieces right in front of him.
Or: Lan Xichen tries to piece himself together after the events at Guanyin Temple. Jiang Cheng has his own piecing to do. Everyone needs a little help.

Caleb approaches, but the man doesn't raise his eyes until he is taking a seat right next to him. There is a quick up-and-down, which Caleb is not exactly a stranger to, so he smiles wryly under the attention."Lythir?" The drow's intonation is slightly lilted, seductive, but the way he says the name betrays some nervousness.
There is a pang in Caleb's chest at the possibility of having to leave without getting to have a conversation, but he shakes his head truthfully. "If you're waiting for someone I can leave." he says, but doesn't move until told to. Lavander eyes pierce through his as if they are trying to find his intention from one sentence.

Keith is the leader now. He’s the one who has to set a good example. So when Lance takes a hit, he has to take responsibility. But it’s not so easy, being the one giving the reprimand.
