Summary
Bruce is the king of Gotham and he needs an heir, so he decides the best way to get an heir is to buy one. When his plan doesn’t work, he arranges the murders of the family of the child he’s chosen.
Years later, Bruce discovers that he has a biological child and becomes abusive towards the child, now teen, that he stole. The situation becomes so unbearable that the boy runs away and is found and adopted by the queen of the merpeople.

“Batman,” Dick stresses quietly, trying to telepathically convey his desperation. “Please.”
Either it sails right over Bruce’s head, or he’s too determined to stop the violence to pass up on the help. “I understand that the two of you have a past, but personal hang-ups have no place on the field. Tarantula has intel that would take us days to acquire on our own. Unless you have a real, justifiable reason for shutting her out, we’re keeping her on the case. At least until we have the situation under control. Am I understood?”
Biting his tongue until he tastes blood, Dick nods.
