Tim crashed down into the diner seat across from Jason, and made grabby hands for the menu card. Jason watched as the sun filtered through the dusty window, the cars zipping by, and the way the light caught the red leather of the seats, glinting off the salt and pepper shakers, and reflecting back into Tim’s eyes, who was squinting at the menu.
“I swear this place used to have eggos,” Tim complained.
Jason looked back at him. “Tim.”
“Yeah?”
“I’m dying.”

Bruce's breath catches as reality sinks in. Someone not only managed to take him down, but they'd also been in his home. With his kids. Fear shoots through him - how long had he been out? What if they'd come downstairs? His protective father instincts flare up despite his pain.
Bruce carefully shifts his position, trying to sit up without waking the kids. He needs to assess the situation, find out what happened and who did this. His hand reaches out, fingers brushing against something cold and metallic on the floor. "What the..." He freezes as he sees it - a syringe.
