    After Shouto's miserable performance during the provisional license exam, he could already anticipate Endeavor's reaction. He prepared himself for the threats, beatings, bruises. He was strong, he could take anything his father threw at him. He could take it. He could--!

    ...Until he couldn't.

    After being manipulated into believing his friends, school, and teachers all want the worst for him, Shouto fights between what his father beat into him and what he knows in his heart feels safer. It's difficult to break away from an abuser when that abuser is all that's known in life, but Shouto learns that not everything in life has to be pain or fear, that not every exchange is made with blood, sweat, and tears. Some things are beautiful, given for free out of the goodness of the heart. Recovery, trust, love, friendships, and family are just a few of those things.

    Or, an AU in which there is a long break after the provisional license exam, Enji wants his son back, and Shouto never stood a chance against his father. But that's okay, because his true family will always be there to catch him when he falls.
