“The roll. It was a seven,” Will admits with an earnestness that takes Mike aback. He realizes all at once that Lucas must have lied. Either that, or Will had been keeping it a secret. He’s not totally sure which is more likely. “The Demogorgon, it got me.”

A very depressed Mike Wheeler comes to visit Will in Montauk
Testing the waters for a book I'm writing by putting Byler in a similar scenario.
Personally I LOVED the finale/epilogue and I loved seeing them allow Will to explore himself and Mike to actively be depressed instead of just there. So this is primarily about their characters, and is mainly a look into how I imagine Mike's mental health

“So you want to invite me along to join your orgy?” Mike quips.
He can hear the eye roll over the phone. “No. It’s not an orgy Mike, it’s a get together. I’ve already called everyone else–”
Mike’s eyes widen and he grips the phone with both hands.
“Who is ‘everyone else’ ?” He asks.
“You know, Lucas and Max and Dustin. Oh, and Will too!”
Or after the train smash that was vol 2 and 3, Mike Wheeler actually has a personality. And feelings. Lots of feelings.
